Black Panther Review

Greetings Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation back once again with another review. So surprise surprise, I saw Black Panther last night, a movie that Marvel's started planting the seeds for back in 2015's Avengers Age of Ultron and with T'Challa's big screen debut in 2016's Civil War. With this being the first superhero movie in this Post Avengers era of superhero movies we're in starring a black hero with a 99% black cast, AND being released during Black History Month, this was guaranteed money in the bank for Marvel Studios. But is the movie worthy of the hype that it's generated? Let's dive into Black Panther!

The Shaman of Animation is a Reject

Greetings Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation back once again. If you've noticed folks, as we're in the middle of February, things have been mostly quiet on the blog (Although me going through long periods of time without uploading anything is nothing new here). But the reason things have gone slightly hush is because after my last post, I realized I was one post away from 100 published posts on the Shaman of Animation Blog. Since that realization, I've been brainstorming, trying to come up with something special for my 100th post; and I figured what better to have for the 100th post than to give you all an idea of the future for your old Shaman.

If you've followed me these last 3 and a half years, you might've seen or heard me collaborating with the group known as SuperKamiAnime as we've discussed RWBY on their Review Channel or I've done co-commentary on their Let's Play channel KamiCrewGaming. In the last little bit, the group has been undergoing he a rebranding, shedding the Kami titles and going for the new group name: The Outer Rejects.

And as I'm sure you've put together if you've read this far, I will be joining the group as more permanent member. If you're wondering what I'll be doing for the newly Christened Outer Rejects, I will be working on reviews for the review channel and offering co-commentary on The Outer Rejects Let's Play Channel whenever I'm needed.

Where does that leave The Shaman of Animation Blog? No worries! The blog will still be here getting updates when I actually remember to update it. After all, I'll be seeing Black Panther this weekend and I do have plans on putting my thoughts on the film out there. Working with the new group however gives me the opportunity to do stuff that I've had planned for a while, but wouldn't have worked as well on a blog (That is if my fellow rejects will allow me).

But to wrap this up, I'm very eager to see where The Outer Rejects channel will go from here. I wanted to make 2018 a year where I did push myself more creatively, and I see this as a perfect opportunity to do so; and I hope you all follow me and the rest of the group as we begin anew.

Black Lightning Episode 1 Review

Greetings Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation back once again with another review! There's a new hero in the DC/CW Multiverse. His name: Black Lightning. When the series was announced last year, I was skeptical. Black Lightning is one of the lesser known heroes in DC Comics, definitely not one I'd pick to have his own show, especially considering there's another black Superhero with the powers of electricity I'd prefer to see in live action. But as more footage came out for the show, I grew more and more intrigued with it. Now that the first episode's finally out: how is it? Let's find out!

Shaman's Thoughts: Teen Titans Go!

Greetings and Happy New Year Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation back once again! I know, it's been a while. There's been very little activity here in 2017, a lot's gone one in the life of your dear Shaman. That, and a lot of laziness, have put a damper on my writing muse. But, it's a new year, and I have a new laptop, so welcome to a new installment of Shaman's Thoughts, my scatterbrain putting things together into a jumbled up mess of an essay. And in this, we kick 2018 off with a bang...and easy clicks: Teen Titans Go!

Before we begin, I'd like to say that this post was inspired by Shadow Streak's video last month discussing Cartoon Network's schedule at the time. Teen Titans Go...since its premiere in April 2013, the series to me has become the Sword Art Online of Western Animation in the sense that merely mentioning the series is sure to get very different reactions from people. Either complete ire or glee. Some think it to be the reason Cartoon Network is dying and the worst cartoon of all time, while others say the former party are just overreacting and that the series isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

I have something of an interesting history with the series, and as 2018 will mark 5 years since it premiered. I wanted to share my thoughts and history with the series, and how I think it's impacted Cartoon Network in the present and how it could impact its future.

Batman and Harley Quinn Review

The thing I can appreciate this film for more than anything is the return of Harley's OG Costume.

Greetings Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation back once again! Another DC animated film has come and gone: Batman and Harley Quinn. To me, it seemed as though there was some controversy even before the film came out. When footage was first shown of the movie, I noticed a lot of people wrote it off from the get-go, mainly because of one name attached to it: Bruce Timm. In the eyes of many, Mr. Timm did a bad with last year's Killing Joke animated movie, and it was because of that a lot of fans didn't want him anywhere near another DC animated film.

When it came to the Killing Joke last year, most of the complaints I saw about it revolved around the first 30 minutes (And keep in mind Timm didn't even write the film). But this film was an original story that Timm himself was involved in. It was these reasons that I was more optimistic for the film. And then the film came out...let's review Batman and Harley Quinn. Warning, spoilers ahead.
