Shaman's Thoughts: How to make the 'Arrowverse' THE DC Cinematic Universe (Part 2)

Yes, I used the same photo from the last post, fight me brah

Greetings Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation back once again with some Superhero talk! Earlier this week, I wrote a post in regards to how to make the 'Arrowverse' (Or CWverse if you prefer) the DC Cinematic Universe and how to fit the DCEU movies into them. If you want, you can check it out in my featured posts. Today however, we're more focused on building this crazy new universe I've created.

We'll take things show from show, starting with Supergirl. Admittedly, when it comes to the girl of steel, not much would change for her per say, but more for her cousin Superman played by Tyler Hoechlin. After the sacrifice of Cavil's Superman in my last post, Hoechlin's Superman has become THE Superman for this new universe. And while Supergirl did establish him in the world, you could use a little more time to flesh him out. So I say you do another episode where those two team up together to get the audience reacquainted with Hoechlin and at the end, he goes off and does his own thing, which from there, you spin him off into his own movie; and I have the perfect story for this:

I wouldn't have this story play out one for one like it did in the comics, but we need a movie that fleshes out Superman's and Clark Kent's world and also satisfy the audience with giving Big Blue a villain to fight; and people have been clamoring for years to see Brainiac on the big screen. Superman: Brainiac gives us a glimpse at what Superman's doing, a bit of his relationship with Lois and his parents and with Brainiac we get to see his connections with Krypton, and while Supes is having his big fight with Brainiac, Kara can be seen taking on droids, maybe in her show, maybe as a side plot to the movie. Or you could have the brainac movie where Superman seemingly destroys Brainiac, but he manages to save a piece of his memory in some technology on Earth and Supergirl has to deal with the fallout to that on her own show.

When it comes to the Flash, this would be the one show that would emotionally deal with the fallout to the death of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and more specifically how to deal with this new guy that shares the same name as the person they all held dear to them (Ezra Miller). With crime steadily rising in Central City, Wally has to step up and run harder and faster than ever now that his Barry is gone. If you ask me, the first test he'd deal with are The Rogues, lead by Captain Cold who was brought back but has no memories of the events of Legends of Tomorrow (Also cause that show's really stupid). This obviously leads to a confrontation with Joe and Iris who don't want him risking his life, especially after losing Barry. It's a bit of a retread considering what's going on in season 3 but it has to be done. I picture that the season ends with Wally deciding to take on The Flash identity himself.

Of course, we can't forget about Ezra Miller's Flash. In the new universe, he's dealing with mainly living in a different world with people he doesn't recognize. In spite of how awkward it is between him and the CW Flash team, they do offer him a place to stay at while he gathers his bearings. Miller declines and decides he needs to be on his own to figure out where he goes from his current direction. Because of that, he takes up the alias of John Fox (That's an actual character in DC Comics, Google him) and lends a hand whenever there's danger in the city and Wally can't deal with it at the time. Eventually, he does warm up to the Team Flash and he goes on to serve as a mentor figure for Wally. I can picture Ezra as being envious of Wally for having so many people there to help him as he had to figure everything out on his own.

Next up we move over to my version of Season 6 of Arrow or as I love calling it 'Discount Batman'. This one, along with Legends of Tomorrow will be pretty short because I don't watch either of those shows. But Season 6 will be the last Season of Arrow. This isn't me ragging on Arrow (For now); It's just that after five seasons I think it's safe to let the show go. So because the show apparently at some point set up Bludhaven, my pitch for the final season would be to take 'Discount Bruce Wayne' out of 'Discount Gotham City' and move him there to face Blockbuster, this mafia owner that had been using his huge connections in Star City to screw with it. Because of that Discount Batman goes to Bludhaven to handle the problem himself, only when he gets there, he's introduced to a brand new hero...

BTW, this picture is from the cool Nightwing Fan Series from the ismahawk YouTube Channel

That's right! Nightwing A.K.A Dick Grayson: the first protege of Bruce Wayne and the first one to take the mantle of Robin had been in Bludhaven for a couple of weeks trying to get a pin on Blockbuster and his crimes on the city. The two team up and eventually bring down Blockbuster and Oliver goes back to his city victorious and on a high note and to throw a bone to all the Arrow Shippers he can get back together with Felicity; and Olicity is end game and you can retire CW Batman. He can hang out with the others in the movies or in team ups on the shows, or you can give him his very own movie where he fights the Suicide Squad like he was originally going to for Season 3, but his series is done; and from that point on you spin Nightwing off into his own show.

Legends of Tomorrow...honestly I got nothing. Bring in Booster Gold so they can do more time travel stuff...there you go.

Now, let's move on to the DCEU guys. I said in the last post that there is some stuff that I do like in the DCEU, that it brings interesting ideas to the table but as far as execution goes, it leaves a lot to be desired. One of these things is Ben Affleck as Batman. If you read my review of Batman v Superman then you'd know I found Affleck to be one of the few redeeming things in that movie. There's an interesting idea that the idea of Bruce losing one of his sidekicks, making him retire only for him to put the cowl back on and return without little care for what happens to those he harms or even kills is kind of interesting, but it gets screwed up when you consider that if he snapped and cares little about killing, then why wasn't the Joker the very first person he killed?

So, with this in mind, the first movie in the universe I'd do would be with Batman; and yes, much like the Batman in the DCEU, this one would take large inspiration from the Dark Knight Returns. But instead, I'd have the movie start off with Joker killing Jason Todd (One of Batman's sidekicks and the second one to take up the name Robin for the uninformed). This results in Batman actually killing the Joker and the result of this: breaking his one rule and breaking that barrier that separates him from the guys he locks away in Arkham Asylum, Bruce Wayne retires as Batman. But, when crime in Gotham reaches an all time high, Bruce dons the cape and cowl once again to take his city back.

The movie isn't about the villains (which WOULD be the mutants from TDKR) so much, but more about Bruce's psyche, where his head is, how he feels about putting the costume back on, it's as much, if not more, of a battle with his personal demons than it is about the fate of his city; and by the end of the film, he obviously takes his city back and comes back full time. After the credits, he can have a talk with Nightwing in regards to his situation and just how he can help; and there you plant the seeds that maybe if Bruce DOES kick the bucket as the Bat that Dick would take the cowl on for himself.

Wonder Woman is a trickier situation than old Bats, you definitely don't want to cross the same bridge with showing The Wonder Woman Origin of Steve Trevor arriving on man's world and all that so we're going to skip ahead of that and say that Wondy's spent a year on Man's world, trying to spread her message of peace to the entire world. From there she runs into a new enemy: Cheetah. Cheetah here would take heavy inspiration from the story "Challenge of the Gods" where she was archaeologist who gains mystical cheetah powers and is fascinated by Wonder Woman's lasso. It's a smaller scale movie and you'd have to do a lot to make Cheetah a character that can hold an entire movie (Or at least I'm assuming since I'm not that well versed in the Wonder Woman mythos) but nothing ventured, nothing gained, am I right?

Okay! Next up, we have Cyborg; and I'll be quite honest, I firmly believe Cyborg is not an interesting enough character to hold his own series of movies, so you know what we're gonna do? We've got Nightwing hanging around on TV; we'll give Cyborg a movie to establish himself (I'm saying this because we're still years off from the Cyborg movie and we don't know what could happen to the DCEU in that time. They might cancel the Cyborg movie for all we know) and then those two will meet up and from there we'll kick off a Titans movie. It can play out like the very first couple of issues of The New Teen Titans by Wolfman and Perez (Or like it did in the OG cartoon for those folks out there): An alien princess (Starfire) who was a slave to another alien race breaks free and escapes to Earth with the other race following right behind her. Nighwting and Cyborg meet up and talk with one another, Starfire literally crashes in front of them and once again I implore you all to Google the episode "Go!" from the original Teen Titans cartoon from 2003. It pretty much plays out like that and the team will is pretty much that exact one. Heck in later seasons, you can bring Wally into the fray and he can help fight too.

And finally as for the league itself, there needs to be a big enough threat that would bring them all together. I say instead of doing another alien invasion, let's do a Legion of Doom movie. The Legion of Doom is pretty much all of the heroes' villains coming together and teaming up to deal with their enemies. But who would bring them together? Gorilla Grodd. If you all remember, in Season 2 of the Flash, Grodd was sent to a different Earth. Whose to say that in the time away, that he didn't master interdimensional travel and he comes back with a vengeance. Not only does he bring his fellow Gorillas with him, Grodd himself brings forms a team of villains that the heroes have fought in the past to do get revenge and take over the world. Wally's the first one to feel the effects of Grodd seeing as it was Barry that threw him away in the first place. Seeing how completely outmatched he is. Wally goes to Supergirl who in turn goes to Superman and from there a new league is formed with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, and Ezra's Flash comes back to help in the fight. From there, it's a giant team deathmatch (Just you know, without much of the death part).

And there you have it folks! My two parter on combining the DCEU and the CW and trying to make the latter the definitive Universe for the two. As stated in the previous post, this is a lot of me just spit balling ideas trying to find something that will work (As you can see since I have no plans for Aquaman or Green Lantern). If you like it, do all that sharing stuff and what not. If not, oh well, you've got some good laughing material at least. And who knows, with the CW Shows coming back next week, all these plans I have could be made impossible to do, so don't take too seriously, it's all in good fun.

Anyways: Til next time folks, I'm The Shaman of Animation. Take Care...
