Scooby-Doo Month (2018): Daphne & Velma

Greetings Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation and welcome to the finale of this year's Scooby-Doo Month...well after the month of October ended. Sorry guys, I really tried to get this done on Halloween but I let time get away from me. But after Curse of The Lake Monster Scooby-Doo, as far as Live Action goes, had fallen back into the abyss the original films put him in. That was until this year when a new live action movie came out from outta nowhere like an RKO; and let me tell yo, when I first found out about this film, I was none too thrilled. I mean, a Scooby-Doo film without the Great Dane himself but about the early days of Daphne and Velma's friendship? That'd be like giving The Joker his own solo movie.

I'm reminded that this is a thing. Why is this a thing? I hate that this is a thing...

I digress, is this movie as dumb as I think? let's find out as we dive into Daphne & Velma!

Scooby-Doo Month (2018): Curse of The Lake Monster

Greetings Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation and welcome back to Scooby-Doo Month! Today's installment is one that I actually own a physical copy of (It was $5 at a CVS) and it inspired this year's theme. With The Mystery Begins being a huge ratings success, a sequel was developed and released the very next year. Was it worth my 5 bucks? Let's find out as we dive into Scooby-Doo! Curse of The Lake Monster.

Avatar: The Last Airbender Book One Review

\
Greetings Ladies and Gents! It Is I, The Shaman of Animation back again! Four years. Four years this blog's been going on. I've Reviewed a lot of cool stuff, reviewed a lot of shite, but out of the hundred plus posts I have here, there's one franchise I always come back to; and seeing that I've covered the Legend of Korra Animated series...and I don't feel like covering the comics at this current juncture, it's time to take a look at Korra's predecessor: Book One of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Shaman's Thoughts: Marvel's Spider-Man

Greetings Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation back with a new installment of Shaman's Thoughts. In case you all have been living under a rock for the last 3 weeks, Marvel's Spider-Man is finally released; and from the moment the first trailer for this game was released back in 2016 during Sony's E3 conference, I was excited. And as more was revealed about it, everything pointed to it being a slam dunk, which also made me weary, this game had a lot of hype surrounding it, surely it couldn't live up to it and all its expectations right? Yes. Yes it could.

Shaman's Thoughts: Teen Titans Go Away?

Greetings Ladies and Gents! It is I, That Shaman of Animation back once again. So, as the top picture may imply here, I've seen the trailer of Titans and I'm not looking forward to it. DC Universe can have my $7.99 next year when Young Justice Outsiders is released. But everything I could say about this trailer has been said already. So instead, I want to focus on a much larger topic, one that I don't think people might not want to talk about. Maybe...it might be time for the Teen Titans to go away.

Comic Casual Issue #2: Sonic the Hedgehog (IDW) 1-4

Greetings Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation back again with a new installment of Comic Casual. I actually wanted to have one of these out sooner than I did, but we're here now with something more current. In July last year, Sega announced the end of its partnership with Archie, resulting in the cancellation of the Archie Sonic comic series: The longest comic based on a video game character. But you can't keep the blue blur down, his games more than prove that.

Sorry, couldn't help but reach for that low hanging fruit...

Not even a week later, the official Sonic Twitter page announced that IDW would be publishing for a new Sonic Comic; and as the months rolled out we got more information on the new series: Veteran Sonic comic writer Ian Flynn would be returning to the book along with various artists familiar with the hedgehog and that the 1st 4 issues would come out on a weekly basis to help usher in this new era. How do they fare? That's what we're here to find out!

The current state of mainstream cartoons

Greetings Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation back again with another installment of Shaman's Thoughts. This past weekend, The Internet got a first look at 'Thundercats Roar': a new reimagining of The Thundercats, with a lighter and more comedic tone (as opposed to the more serious 2011 reboot). The internet took to this as well as the internet takes to many questionable reboots/reimaginings of beloved old cartoons (Spoiler Alert: It wasn't good). Some of the criticisms thrown the show's way were just, like the fact the show seemingly looks the same as a lot of Cartoon Network shows nowadays.

But I'm not here to insult Thundercats Roar or the crew working on it, for all I know the show could come out & it could wow folks of all ages proving to be ahead of its time. But when I first got word of this series one thought entered my mind: What the hell happened to action cartoons?

Shaman's Thoughts: The Dragon Ball Heroes Anime

Greetings Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation back again with another installment of Shaman's Thoughts: One try-hard's attempt at being an intellectual. Yesterday morning I woke up, got ready for work and in doing so, I checked my phone, to see what's going on in my Twitter circle and I see tweets about Dragon Ball Heroes getting an anime adaptation; and upon further research entailing a 2 minute Google Search, this is confirmed happening, and I couldn't be more excited.

Black Panther Review

Greetings Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation back once again with another review. So surprise surprise, I saw Black Panther last night, a movie that Marvel's started planting the seeds for back in 2015's Avengers Age of Ultron and with T'Challa's big screen debut in 2016's Civil War. With this being the first superhero movie in this Post Avengers era of superhero movies we're in starring a black hero with a 99% black cast, AND being released during Black History Month, this was guaranteed money in the bank for Marvel Studios. But is the movie worthy of the hype that it's generated? Let's dive into Black Panther!

The Shaman of Animation is a Reject

Greetings Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation back once again. If you've noticed folks, as we're in the middle of February, things have been mostly quiet on the blog (Although me going through long periods of time without uploading anything is nothing new here). But the reason things have gone slightly hush is because after my last post, I realized I was one post away from 100 published posts on the Shaman of Animation Blog. Since that realization, I've been brainstorming, trying to come up with something special for my 100th post; and I figured what better to have for the 100th post than to give you all an idea of the future for your old Shaman.

If you've followed me these last 3 and a half years, you might've seen or heard me collaborating with the group known as SuperKamiAnime as we've discussed RWBY on their Review Channel or I've done co-commentary on their Let's Play channel KamiCrewGaming. In the last little bit, the group has been undergoing he a rebranding, shedding the Kami titles and going for the new group name: The Outer Rejects.

And as I'm sure you've put together if you've read this far, I will be joining the group as more permanent member. If you're wondering what I'll be doing for the newly Christened Outer Rejects, I will be working on reviews for the review channel and offering co-commentary on The Outer Rejects Let's Play Channel whenever I'm needed.

Where does that leave The Shaman of Animation Blog? No worries! The blog will still be here getting updates when I actually remember to update it. After all, I'll be seeing Black Panther this weekend and I do have plans on putting my thoughts on the film out there. Working with the new group however gives me the opportunity to do stuff that I've had planned for a while, but wouldn't have worked as well on a blog (That is if my fellow rejects will allow me).

But to wrap this up, I'm very eager to see where The Outer Rejects channel will go from here. I wanted to make 2018 a year where I did push myself more creatively, and I see this as a perfect opportunity to do so; and I hope you all follow me and the rest of the group as we begin anew.

That's all for now folks, If you'd be so kind, give The Outer Rejects Let's Play channel and our review Channel a look and subscribe to support us. There's a link to the LP channel above, and I'll leave one for both channels in the description for this post.

Until Next time everyone, I'm The Shaman of Animation. Thank you for one hundred posts, and I hope the next hundred are just as good.

Take Care...

Shaman's Thoughts: 'Metropolis' series

Greetings Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation back again! Imagine my surprise after coming home from work and checking my Twitter feed to see that not only is there a trailer for Ant-Man and The Wasp (which looks to be another fun movie from Marvel) but the announcement of a Superman Prequel series Metropolis...what?

Black Lightning Episode 1 Review

Greetings Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation back once again with another review! There's a new hero in the DC/CW Multiverse. His name: Black Lightning. When the series was announced last year, I was skeptical. Black Lightning is one of the lesser known heroes in DC Comics, definitely not one I'd pick to have his own show, especially considering there's another black Superhero with the powers of electricity I'd prefer to see in live action. But as more footage came out for the show, I grew more and more intrigued with it. Now that the first episode's finally out: how is it? Let's find out!

Shaman's Thoughts: Teen Titans Go!

Greetings and Happy New Year Ladies and Gents! It is I, The Shaman of Animation back once again! I know, it's been a while. There's been very little activity here in 2017, a lot's gone one in the life of your dear Shaman. That, and a lot of laziness, have put a damper on my writing muse. But, it's a new year, and I have a new laptop, so welcome to a new installment of Shaman's Thoughts, my scatterbrain putting things together into a jumbled up mess of an essay. And in this, we kick 2018 off with a bang...and easy clicks: Teen Titans Go!

Before we begin, I'd like to say that this post was inspired by Shadow Streak's video last month discussing Cartoon Network's schedule at the time. Teen Titans Go...since its premiere in April 2013, the series to me has become the Sword Art Online of Western Animation in the sense that merely mentioning the series is sure to get very different reactions from people. Either complete ire or glee. Some think it to be the reason Cartoon Network is dying and the worst cartoon of all time, while others say the former party are just overreacting and that the series isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

I have something of an interesting history with the series, and as 2018 will mark 5 years since it premiered. I wanted to share my thoughts and history with the series, and how I think it's impacted Cartoon Network in the present and how it could impact its future.
